A year after the Christmas special “The Abominable Bride” and three years after the end of season 3, Sherlock will return for season 4! The BBC announced earlier today that the first episode, “The Six Thatchers,” will premiere on January 1, 2017.
The announcement came via the BBC’s Facebook page, with this ominous photo and the following caption:
Sherlock will return in The Six Thatchers on January 1, 2017. #Sherlock
The BBC had previously announced two episode titles, “The Six Thatchers” and “The Dying Detective.” The third episode remains unnamed.
Happy New Year to all of us! But probably not to Sherlock and John, as season 4 looks to be the darkest yet:
